25 – 1 victory for the under 9′s

With Wimbledon taking the honors against the senior ladies on sat, it was down to the juniors to show us how its done on sunday and boy, did they.

Richmond under 9′s fielded two development teams (Falcons, Harriers) and a strong Hawks team, against the full might of the best three teams Wimbledon could get out.

Each of the three Richmond teams played each of the Wimbledon teams with 3 points for a win a win and 1 point for a draw.

The results a 25 – 1 point Team victory for Richmond!

The Hawks scoring a goal a minute right the way through one game, but the really pleasing thing was the depth of the development squads, never looking out classed and improving right the way through the tournament. It was only some sympathetic umpiring that stopped a few of the games becoming embarrassing for the Wimbledon girls.

With Old heads on young shoulders the girls (with a little help from the sidelines) now understand formations and how to play as a team, as well as having the confidence and individual skills and pace to beat girls all round the pitch!

However with a fixture against Surbiton coming up, the girls need to carry this momentum forwards, and show us their defensive tenacity as well as their attack prowess!

Big thanks to everyone who helped…… or brought krispy kreme’s (other donut brands are available)!
