Our long standing President Mr Mike “Batty” Barford stood down at the AGM on Monday and we are delighted to announce that Mr Julian Stocks has agreed to take over this role in this our 140th anniversary year.
Julian has been a member of Richmond HC since 1974 and can lay claim to having played for every Men’s team in the Club together with many years distinguished service for our 1st XI. He also turned out for one of the ladies teams on one memorable weekend apparently. Geoffrey Stocks (father) was also a notable RHC Member joining in 1946/7 gaining 5 England Caps (when some would suggest there should have been many more) and Sir Denys Stocks (grandfather) played for England 27 times between the wars so our new President brings with him a fine hockey heritage. We are delighted that he has agreed to become our President and trust you will do all you can to assist him and we look forward to the coming years.
We must of course express our thanks and gratitude to outgoing president Mike Barford who has presided over RHC for almost 15 years during which time we made the move to The Hogg and regained our National League status. His calming influence and guidance has been of tremendous benefit to your Committee and we very much hope that his astute financial input will be available to us moving forward.
