Men's Renegades vs Wimbledon Masters 2

Strong start for Renegades

With more than a hint of Summer still in the air a squad of 13 (yes really) Renegades went up the hill to Wimbledon with the summer holiday excesses well and truly behind them. Pre-match concerns over arrival times from Messrs Harvey and Birts were soon quashed and we were quorate for warm-up and pre-match chinwag. Captain Tuckwood set the stall out early with a clear and concise team talk about formation and patterns of play which looked to build on the best of last season and put to bed some of the worst !

A degree of reinforcement from Messrs Blake and Swaine during the skippers walk to the centre circle for the coin toss certainly had the chaps ready to go !

Probably fair to say that the first 5 minutes were not our finest with a few loose balls at the back presenting Wimbledon with a couple of opportunities which could have been punishing had it not been for some last ditch defending. Nerves was calmed however when two slick counter attacks saw us 2 up in a matter of minutes at which point we settled into a nice flow and from that point on the goals kept on coming and coming and coming.

Dom did what Dom does - scored a load and then headed off for his Non-Vets game of the day.

Blakey did Blakey does - popped a corner in leaving the GK and post man all at sea and then headed off to Guildford with his 1's Managers hat on.

Messrs Denye and Harvey kept the scoreboad ticking over.

Usual quality post match showers and meal at the Wimbledon Club (oh to have a few spare million kicking around !) with the chat focusing on the goals we left out on the (always wanting more !!!) and the odd phenomenon of Richard Swaine being convinced his PC was "going in" when it hit incoming injector Captain Tuckwood about a foot (or two) outside the post. Protestations that "it was curving in" were quickly rebuffed and rather than back down the Swaine made reference to "bending space and time continuum" which frankly had all present heading for the bar and the exit in equal measure.. NExt week Swainey.. next week :-)

Scorers - Dom Richardson (5), Ben Blake (1), Andre Denye (1), Adam Harvey (1)

MOM _ Shared between Dom Richardson and Dan Rees (Skipper electing not to use his casting vote)

DOD - Richard Swaine (see above)

Next Up - Sonning 1.45 at home next week after the 1's.
